The Wedding Date (2005)

The Wedding Date (2005)

“I’m allergic to fabric softener. I majored in comparative literature at Brown. I hate anchovies. And I think I’d miss you even if we never met.” – Nick Mercer (played by Dermot Mulroney)
Oh. My. God.
I think that’s one of the most romantic things I’ve heard in the longest time. In fact, this movie has a lot of great lines in it.

OhEmGee – A Frank Sinatra bio-flick!? YAYNESS!

OhEmGee – A Frank Sinatra bio-flick!? YAYNESS!

I don’t know why the LA Times is stating that Frank Sinatra died on May 14th, when all the stuff that’s been happening happened yesterday on the 13th, but here’s a rumor I couldn’t bear to ignore:
They’re doing it Frank Sinatra’s way – Ten years after his death, Ol’ Blue Eyes is the color of money under a new deal between the family and Warner Music Group Corp.
Late last year, the Sinatra heirs signed a pact with Warner Music Group Corp. that will bring Ol’ Blue Eyes back in a big way, not just as a digitally resurrected entertainer but …read more

Vintage Art – Bogie and Bergman in Casablanca

Vintage Art – Bogie and Bergman in Casablanca

Continuing on with the “movie room” theme for vintage art, I found this classic movie poster of “Casablanca” featuring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Anyone… I mean ANYONE… who doesn’t find this movie a total classic and who doesn’t appreciate it for it’s entirety is a fool, in my opinion!
The colors and the artwork in this print are just beautiful, and would not only be great in a movie room, but also a bedroom with a vintage feel to it’s decor, or even a home office.

Happy Birthday Bette Davis… and me!

Today marks the 100th birthday of Miss Bette Davis, and the 2nd anniversary of my 29th birthday!
For some reason, whenever I think of Bette, and I do every year on this day, I think of that 80s song, “Bette Davis Eyes”. Well, I used to think of that song first. Since I got a little older, and less wrapped up in the music of my youth, I now tend to think of her more than of the song.
Some cool stuff is going on in honor of her birthday: Miss Davis’s fans will be gathered …read more

Sammy Davis, Jr. – Something’s Gotta Give

Sammy Davis, Jr. – Something’s Gotta Give

I remember last year for my birthday (gah, was it a whole year ago?) my parents got me tickets to see a Rat Pack tribute group with a local celebrity, Louis Velez, playing Sammy Davis, Jr.
I also vividly remember when he did the song Something’s Gotta Give, which was one of Sammy’s well known songs. Here are the mp3 and the lyrics, as well as a bit of trivia for you:

I haven’t seen HBO’s The Rat Pack yet, as I grew up a child/teenager without the luxury of paid premium channels. Heck, I still don’t have them, and the boyfriend’s got the HBO’s for the first 6 months free deal, but after that, he’s canceling. Anyway, it sounds really good, and I’m thinking I might have to snag myself an early birthday present… to myself.
Love this cheesy editorial review:
“Hey, chicky baby–it’s a cuckoo thing, ya dig? You, too, will find yourself speaking Rat Pack lingo after watching …read more
