(Originally posted August 2007, I want to try to get this idea rolling again!)
Okay everyone – it’s time for the first ever Crooner Culture blog project!
Here’s the skinny…
Everyone has old family photos from the 40’s and 50’s laying around somewhere. Maybe your cousin’s got them all, or your sister, or your 80 year old Uncle Joe. But they’re somewhere.
Your job is to find the photo that reminds you of the classic “crooner era” and post it on your blog, writing whatever you know about when and where it was taken, and put a link in the post to this blog …read more
Wedding Songs on a Special Day
Dance Me to the End of LoveVettriano, JackBuy at AllPosters.com
My friends Chris and Nicole are getting married this afternoon.
One of the things I love about weddings is finding out what the bride and groom have chosen for their “first dance” wedding song. I know, most people like the romance of it all, the flowers, the dresses, the food even… I just can’t wait to hear what that song is.
Yep, I’m weird. It’s okay, I’ve come to terms with it.
One of my all time favorite songs for a “first dance” song is one I wrote about earlier when …read more
OhEmGee – A Frank Sinatra bio-flick!? YAYNESS!
I don’t know why the LA Times is stating that Frank Sinatra died on May 14th, when all the stuff that’s been happening happened yesterday on the 13th, but here’s a rumor I couldn’t bear to ignore:
They’re doing it Frank Sinatra’s way – Ten years after his death, Ol’ Blue Eyes is the color of money under a new deal between the family and Warner Music Group Corp.
Late last year, the Sinatra heirs signed a pact with Warner Music Group Corp. that will bring Ol’ Blue Eyes back in a big way, not just as a digitally resurrected entertainer but …read more

We still remember you, Mr. Chairman!
Today marks the anniversary of the passing of the most legendary crooner of all time, Mr. Francis Albert Sinatra. Lots of wonderful things happening today, most of which I’ve written about previously here on Crooner Culture.
Frank gets his own US stamp today. Yes, I’m going to the post office the second it opens up. No, you didn’t have to ask.
Oh, and let’s not forget the new CD release today: Nothing But The Best
I had originally thought that this was his birthday – with all the “celebrating” going on …read more
Bellagio Fountains and Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon”
I’ve yet to get to Vegas (but I’m hoping to go soon), yet I hear that the fountains at the Bellagio “sing and dance” and I want to see for myself.
For now, the best I can do is this video I found on YouTube of the fountains singing and dancing to Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon”. Pretty beautiful, even from so far back, don’t you think?

Okay this has got to be the coolest. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is running Frank Sinatra stuff all month long in honor of the anniversary of his death 10 years ago.
Right this minute, on a Sunday night, I’m watching a televised concert he did in the 60s (Sinatra: The Man and His Music). He’s singing “I Get A Kick Out Of You” and he’s doing this head-bobbin’ (think Night at the Roxbury but not as extreme – much more suave) and foot stompin’ thing. I just love him.
I was SO born …read more
