John Rawlings (1912 – 1970) gave fashion photography a sharp artistic focus. He transformed it into a medium brimming with color, light and fascinating composition. I’ve always wanted to collect tin wall signs for some reason. My mom’s got a couple she pulls out around Christmas, with Santa and Coca-Cola on them, but every time I see these kinds of wall art up, I always wonder if they’re real (authentic) or reproductions. There’s something about that long, lean, stretched-hourglass figure that’s often featured in vintage ads for champagne. Tattinger used it (“it” being Grace Kelly) in one of their pieces, and here we have two by Poto Leifi for a company (that may be fictional, because I can’t find any info on it) called Golden Sable.

Continuing on with the “movie room” theme for vintage art, I found this classic movie poster of “Casablanca” featuring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Anyone… I mean ANYONE… who doesn’t find this movie a total classic and who doesn’t appreciate it for it’s entirety is a fool, in my opinion!
