I know, it appears that I’m on an Alicia Keys kick here lately – maybe I am.
I also know that she’s considered R&B and not a “crooner” type, according to official genre types, but I can’t help it – She’s a crooner to me. Maybe it’s the piano, her voice, I don’t know… whatever it is, I’m kinda into it.

Josh Groban’s voice is simply beautiful, don’t you think? I found out the other night that he and Michael Bublé are very good friends, too! This song is beautiful, and I have to say, I know that it could be taken in any number of ways but I would probably bawl my eyes out if anyone ever sang/dedicated this one to me. Wouldn’t you?

This song reminds me of two movies, both kind of related in a “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” sort of way…The movie The Green Mile (if you haven’t seen it, just click that link go buy it now, because you’re going to love this flick) when John Coffey gets his last request before execution and they take him to see Top Hat with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. This has got to be the all time sweetest song around. I just love Tony’s voice in this, he sounds so sincere!
It’s featured in the film Swing Time, which won the Academy Award for “Best Original Song” in 1936.

I’m sure it’s more than this, but one major thing is that they’ve both covered Leonard Cohen songs. Billy Joel with “Light As The Breeze” and Michael Buble with “I’m Your Man”.
